Road Users First Aid - Half Day

This 4hr course is designed for all road users.



Who should attend?

This course will be ideal for all road users including, drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians or members of the public who wish to know how to deal with a first aid incident on a road. This course is open to anyone aged 14 yrs or over, although under 16s will need to be accompanied by an adult (family member, guardian or written family consent)

What you will learn

This course will give you the skills and knowledge required to deal with a wide range of first aid scenarios that are related to road traffic incidents. You will learn how to deal with a road traffic incident where multiple casualties may be involved and learn the necessary first aid skills to deal with a variety of road related injuries.

Course content

- Responsibilities of the First Aider
- Casualty Management & First Aid kits inc. Action in an Emergency
- Primary Survey & Secondary Assessment
- Breathing and Circulation
- Principles of Resuscitation inc CPR
- Disorders of the Circulation inc fainting, shock
- Wounds and Bleeding
- Disorders of Consciousness inc head injuries
- Foreign objects
- Bones, Joints and Muscle Injuries inc spinal injuries

Course duration

The course is usually held over half a day totalling 4hrs including coffee breaks. The course is normally held at Bridge Safety and Training premises although, if required we can deliver the course at the client’s premises specifically for their employees.

Assessment and certification

Assessment is visual throughout. Upon successful completion, first aiders receive certification valid for three years after which, you will need to repeat the Road Users First Aid Course to renew your qualification for a further 3 years. It is strongly recommended that you update your skills by taking an annual refresher.

Support

We are committed to supporting our delegates therefore upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to access first aid advice from our HSE approved instructors should you have any queries in the future. We will remind you when your qualification requires updating and inform you on any legislation change that may occur.
