Who should attend?

Managing safely is for managers and supervisors in any sector, and any organisation. The course is designed to get managers up to speed on the practical actions they need to take to handle health and safety in their workplace

 

What you will learn

Managing safely is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge to manage safely and effectively in compliance with both their organisation's policy and best practice in health and safety.

 

Course content

- Health and safety law

- The UK Legal System (including Corporate Manslaughter)

- The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974

- The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations

- Risk Assessment

- Mechanical Handling

- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations

- Machinery Safety

- Noise including the Noise at Work Regulations

- Ergonomics

- Chemical safety

- Display screen equipment

- Personal Protective Equipment Regulations

- Manual handling including the Manual Handling Operations Regulations

- Accident investigation and prevention

- Practical hazard spotting exercises

 

Course duration

The course is delivered over four days totalling 32hrs including coffee breaks. The course is either held on client’s premises, and delivered specifically for their employees or, delivered at Bridge Safety and Training premises.

 

Assessment and certification

Assessment is a combination of practical and written assessment. Upon successful completion delegates can choose to receive either an IOSH Managing Safely certificate.
